RXTX PortInUseException on Mac OSX
This was my first serial programming experience on Mac OS X with Java and it was painful. There is no official library for Java for writing/reading from serial interface. Open source libraries available but those depends on OS, and OS architecture and java versions. After required libs installed, I had to get list of all port on my mac using rxtx however, had to deal with with PortInUseException while opening a port. Thanks to this guy; solution is to set up a folder and required permissions at location /var/lock, then everything went very well.
After a few years I returned back to java, it still same java nothing much here
I can handle it.
A Fresh Start
I haven’t touch my blog for months and It doesn’t seem I can write long posts every day or week but at least I try to share things like videos, links …etc.
Using godaddy or an other hosting company for a power user, doesn’t work. I have to move a private server, ordered and set it up within two days. So, I can say this is a fresh start and I hope I can continue on writing regularly.
About Android
Finally, I had a chance to play with Android SDK and develop something. Something called Istanbul Guide, yes the Android version of my first iPhone App. It’s available both in Android Market and Community Markets for free to download.
I’m interested in Android because it’s open, it’s linux, it’s java … etc. If you look at end user point, no doubt that iPhone is the killer. iOS is its limited, there are boundaries and rules you have to obey. I want freedom. Why? Recently started a new project (still in design phase), which aims to make disabled people’ life easier. Resulted application supposed to modify underling operating system to replace existing user-device interaction like replacing standard keypad … etc. That’s impossible for iOS but not in Android.
I’ll be still working on iOS but I believe innovation happens when it’s open.
Istanbul is Ready For Sale on the App Store
Yesterday, my new iPhone App (extended version of Istanbul Guide) has been approved for sale on the App Store. New App provides more and rich content with additional features such as public transportation lines (metro & trams for now) and weather information for Istanbul.
So far, your ideas helped me to improve the application to be more useful. Thank you for sharing your ideas with me. I’d be happy to see feedbacks.

The Future of Games
You must watch this presentation on the future of games by Jesse Schell. This talk is awesome, probably you’ve never thought the future of games as he did.
